AINTREE RACECOURSE

Supported by:

2025 will see the launch of Bike Aintree, a charity cycling event hosted by the University Hospitals Liverpool Charity, taking place out of the famous Aintree Racecourse. The event is an open-to-all, non-competitive bike ride experience that caters for all ages and abilities and covers a range of distances.

Three great routes, approximately 33, 55 and 77 miles will leave Aintree Racecourse and head north east into fantastic countryside of Merseyside and Lancashire with the long route benefiting from spectacular views around Rivington Reservoir.

UHL charity funds projects, equipment, and services that the NHS simply cannot stretch and all money raised from the ride will go to the breast team to improve services across Aintree, Broadgreen and The Royal Liverpool Hospitals. You can help these teams to ensure that our breast cancer patients receive the practical support they need during a physically, emotionally and often financially challenging time

On the day there will also be a fun health and wellbeing event at the raceourse from 12pm - 4pm featuring stalls and activities to improve mental health, general well being and active lifestyles. Merseyside Police will be offering bike marking and Active Sefton will be offering fun kids sporting activities. So there's guaranteed to be something for everyone!

As an entrant to Bike Aintree, you will benefit from:

  • A choice of three fully marked routes

  • Route map and GPS files

  • Feed stations on the long and medium routes

  • On-course first aid and mechanical support

  • A medal and food at the end of your ride

  • Free event parking

  • Event day atmosphere at Aintree Racecourse

What kit do I need?

  • A roadworthy bike

  • A helmet

There is mechanical support on the rides, but we recommend that everyone is self- sufficient and carries:

  • Tyre levers

  • Mini-pump

  • Spare inner tubes

  • Multi-tool

  • Puncture repair kit

The feed stop will be stocked with a range of sweet and savoury, high energy food products, as well as water, but we also recommend carrying:

  • Full water bottle(s)

  • Snacks

What clothing do I need?

You can cycle in anything you feel comfortable in, but we recommend:

  • A waterproof jacket

  • A pair of padded cycling shorts. This will make the riding much more comfortable. You can wear baggy shorts, leggings or trousers over the top if you don’t want to just wear lycra.

The Liverpool University Hospitals Charity exists to support Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to enhance the experience of their patients and their families while they're in their care.

With NHS budgets at capacity, they fund anything over and above NHS budgets, across their sites at Aintree, The Royal and Broadgreen. This can include anything from the purchase of cutting edge equipment, funding pioneering medical research, supporting the health and wellbeing of their brilliant staff and creating a patient-friendly environment helping to make their patients, and their families, to feel welcome and at ease during their time in hospital.
